It is accessed through the Bab Seba, who once defended the entrance of the Imperial Palace. Bab Seba, the gate of the seven gates that name in reference to the seven brothers of Moulay Abdellah who successively occupied the throne in the eighteenth century. This ancient square is dominated by the high walls of Bab Al Makina, which was created in 1886, an arms factory, by an Italian mission at the initiative of the Sultan Moulay Hassan. Now restored, it serves as a conference room and concerts, especially during the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music. Basically the old Méchouar, Bab Segma retains only the tower of the old door Mérinide dating from 1315.
